Duties for President - RVTTC representative
×
Heather is an RVT, practicing in the Halifax area since 2014. She is originally from the Southern coast of Labrador, where she then moved to Truro to study at the Agricultural College.
She has dabbled in a wide array of Veterinary medicine throughout her career, ranging from General Practice, to integrative medicine, Veterinary Technology education and clinical development to most currently, humane society shelter operations and medical management.
It is through all of these very unique experiences that she realized that in addition to her love of the profession her real passion was for developing clear communications and expectations, ensuring everyone had the tools they needed to do their job well, whether it was clients, students, peers or employees. It is with this in mind that she became interested in being involved at an association level within veterinary medicine.
In addition to her current role as President, she also sits on the board of directors with RVTTC, a national advocacy group for RVT’s, who continue to build resources and connections with other groups to develop a stronger voice for our profession and connect associations across the country.
Outside of professional activities, Much of her time is spent at the barn with her horse, riding and taking lessons to prepare for a horse show, or having quality time with her other critters and partner.

Alyson graduated from DAL AC (NSAC) in 2005 and has worked in small animal general practice ever since. In the last 2 years, she has moved into practice management and is enjoying learning this new aspect of veterinary medicine.
Alyson joined the EVTA in 2021 as a member at large, and became the NB RVT representative on the NBVMA council, and just recently was elected to the role of vice president of the association
In typical vet tech fashion, she has a 17 year old DSH asthmatic, renal insufficient and diabetic cat at home, along with a 4 year old orange tabby who keeps her busy. Outside of her professional life she loves reading, cross stitching and sewing!

Chantal graduated from Mount Allison University with a BSc. Biology and then went on to the NSAC and completed her AHT diploma in 2002. She worked in companion animal practice for 6 years before accepting a teaching position at Oulton College in 2008 and have been there ever since.
Chantal is a long standing board member, holding multiple positions with the EVTA; RVTTC rep (back when it was called CAAHTT), Vice President and President.
Her family includes Marley, a Lab mix, Sparkplug, Marvin and Delilah, all DSH. And seeing as how they belong to a vet tech, they all have issues.

Duties for Member at Large (NS) - Awards Commitee
×
Sian lived and grew up in Cardiff, South Wales until she moved to Canada in 2012.
Sian has always been passionate about animals and thought about veterinary medicine as a career when she was younger. However, a different path into office administration actually lay ahead. After getting her very own, albeit accident prone, chocolate Labrador puppy, Hamish, her passion was rekindled. Sian completely changed her career and requalified as a Registered Veterinary Technician. Best career decision she ever made!
Outside of being an RVT, Sian can be found either swimming (indoor and outdoor), watching rugby or spending as much time as possible hiking with Hamish, occasionally inviting her husband along too!
