What is EVTA (Eastern Veterinary Technicians Association)?

The EVTA is a non-profit and non-union organization whose emphasis is on the advancement of Animal Health Technicians/Technologists (AHT)/ Veterinary Technicians (VT) /Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVT) as part of their profession so that they may better serve the animal care field.

Vision Statement

The Eastern Veterinary Technicians’ Association (EVTA) for the Atlantic Provinces of Canada endeavours to:

  • Provide continuing education for Animal Health Technicians/Technologists (AHT)/ Veterinary Technicians(VT)/Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVT), and associate members
  • Promote unity and provide support and resources to AHTs/VTs/RVTs in the Atlantic Provinces.

Our Objectives

  • To enhance the knowledge and skills of AHTs/VTs/RVTs through continuing education.
  • To participate in defining, upholding and improving standards of professional practice and legislation.
  • To develop and maintain a code of ethics and high professional standards of AHTs/VTs/RVTs.
  • To develop and maintain communication and cooperation amongst AHTs/VTs/RVTs, the veterinary medical profession, government, industry and the general public.
  • To promote progressive and humane medical care for all animals.
  • To understand and support the attachment between a person and his/her companion animal.
