Maintaining your RVT Status 

 
RVT’s are required to accumulate ten (10) continuing education credits over a one (1) year period & maintain membership in their provincial association in order to maintain their registered status.  Those individuals who have written and passed the National Exam, but have not acquired the 10 CE credits must rewrite the examination to regain their registered status.  **Please note:  Files can not be updated if membership is not kept current.  
 
Continuing Education credits will be awarded as listed below:
 
Conferences (full day)          5.0 credits/day
Half day conference / seminar (3-4 h) 2.5 credits
Seminars (1-3h) 1.5 credits
Published article 2.0 credits
Public Education (to promote profession) 2.0 credits
Guest Speaking (AHT related functions) 2.0 credits
Related Courses (recognized by EVTA) 2.0 credits
Quizzes (TechNews*, Veterinary Technician**) 1.0 credit/quiz
EVTA meetings (if separate from seminar) 1.0 credit     
Other To be reviewed by Executive
 
*TechNews quizzes must be sent to the OAVT for marking.
** Veterinary Technician quizzes must be sent back to the magazine for marking.  EVTA counts Veterinary Technician magazine quizzes as 1 full credit. REMEMBER TO ALLOW 6-8 WEEKS TO PROCESS YOUR RESULTS !!
 
Individuals must contact the CE Coordinator, Judith Emery, to discuss extenuating circumstances, which prevent them from acquiring their CE credits. The executive will review these circumstances and if deemed worthy, a “grace period” may be granted.  Terms of the grace period will be set on an individual basis.
 
Credits are due annually BEFORE June 1st.
